[2010/03/23 19:53] Susie223 Chun: ok
[2010/03/23 19:55] Susie223 Chun: 5 minutes left
[2010/03/23 19:55] Ruby Lysios: well...
[2010/03/23 19:56] Susie223 Chun: Ruby?any opinions?
[2010/03/23 19:57] Jessie Passerine: In the next school year, relational content will appear in the textbooks. I think using the word relevant instead of relaional will be better.
[2010/03/23 19:59] Ruby Lysios: i think what you wite is very objective and without your personal feeling
[2010/03/23 19:59] Ruby Lysios: that's good
[2010/03/23 19:59] Susie223 Chun: thanks

2.At first Jessie thought that maybe in paragraph 1 "The gender equality education in Taipei falls back to 15 years ago due to the official document which was delivered to every middle school in Taipei by Taipei Department of Education a few days ago, said Lai Youmei, the chief secretary of The Gender Equality Education Association." we could say dropping by instead of said by Lai Youmen, but after our discussion we think me might use the word "said" because it's more common in News report.

The sentence "The document showed that the Taipei Municipal Government treated queers as epidemic virus, that’s why they were so angry" should be "The document showed that the Taipei Municipal Government treated queers as epidemic virus, and that’s why they were so angry"

After the remonstrance, Kang Zonghu, the director of Taipei Department of Education...we don't need to add the word "Taipei" because it is not the organization under the city.

In the next school year, relational content will appear in the textbooks. Jessie thinks using the word relevant instead of relaional will be better.

3. I think the news article written by Susie gives us lots of information; what she wrote was very objective and without her personal feelings. The article was also quite well-organized and we could see and understand the basic background through each paragraph clearly about gender equality education.

Sadness and Sorrow toward New Taiwan Brides(revised version)

Recently, it becomes a trend that more and more migrant brides immigrate in Taiwan. The population of them has increased rapidly and according to Ministry of the Interior, there are more than 400,000 migrant brides in Taiwan, coming from Vietnam, Indonesia, and China. The migrant brides make Taiwan a multicultural country that symbolizes vitality and vigorousness. However, there are still some controversial issues and problems toward migrant brides that some people argue migrant brides has become a burden to our society; “we need to pay more attention to them and concern not only about the migrant brides but their children,” claimed by the social workers.

On March 18, there was a press conference held by Taipei Women’s center that invited some migrant brides to share their experiences and talk about the struggle they had confronted. “Once I had the notion to kill myself…fall from the roof, but I saw my child's smile, which was so naive, simple, and innocent…so I didn’t want to die…” said by YU HUA, from Vietnam; she have stayed in Taiwan for five years. Whenever she reminded the days after her husband died, she could not help but crying. She brought up the artistic child independently and now had a stable job with the assistance of Social Affairs Bureau.
Besides YU HUA, there are still many helpless migrant brides in the difficult situation that need more people concern such as the education of their children, domestic violence, and racial discrimination…We hope our society could be more fair and exist justice to deal with the issues; the government could enact the laws to protect the migrant brides and strive for their rights. Hopefully we could try our best to let them feel Taiwan people’s warmth and friendliness. We could help comfort their minds to support the migrant brides and wish to see there smiles every day.

news discussion

Quill:hello,let’s discuss this news~

Roxanne:okok

Ruby:I think it’s the issue about religion.

Charlotte:yes,I agree.

Quill:as we know, the people in middle east are really religious.

Roxanne:yeah, and there are many taboos in their religion.

Ruby:hmm,for example?

Charlotte:ummm, they are not allowed to eat pork.

Quill:and…you know, the women in Muslim countries are not allowed to reveal their faces.

Roxanne:but I think that the teacher in this article had noting to do with Muhammad…and Ms. Hussein thought so.

Ruby:yes,I think the Sudan government took that too serious

Charlotte:I think they have to distinguish education from religion.

Quill:yes~ And I think that the teacher was innocent, and that she did the mistake accidentally.

Roxanne:I think if there is someone to be blamed for, it should not be the teacher, but her pupils.

Ruby:uhh, but I think the kids were too young to know the dos and don’ts.

Roxanne:but we cannot let the teacher take all responsibilities, all we have to do is to teach the kids, that’s all.

Charlotte:yeah, the teacher shouldn’t have been imprisoned

Quill:anyway,I consider the government should strike a balance between the malicious words and innocent mistake.

Roxanne:that makes me think of literary persecution.

Ruby:it seems a terrible thing

Charlotte:I guess I won't talk anything from now on.

Quill:ha ha~We stay in Taiwan. And people have lots of freedom.Don't worry.

Roxanne:That's right. Compared to those people in the Middle East.We are much luckier.

Ruby:Don't worry Charlotte. You can talk whatever you want in this chatroom.

Charlotte:HaHa ~Ok Ok

Quill: But finally the teacher was innocent.

Roxanne: They were nice judges

Ruby:She didn't do anything wrong.

Charlotte:People there were really really sensitive.

Quill:They just make a fuss about it

Roxanne:Maybe we can't say that because we don't totally understand their culture background.

Ruby:It makes sense.

Charlotte:I am really afraid that World War Three is going happen TOMORROW

Quill:How stupid you are, Charlotte~No wonder you look so blue recently.

Roxanne:HaHa~ Don't think too much

Ruby:We are all peace-keeper. If the war will break out, don't leave me alone

Charlotte:We must run away together

Quill:Ok Ok~I don't want talk to you guys. You are really stupid.I have to leave this chatroom.See you.

Roxanne:Is Quill angry?

Ruby:I don't know. I have to do other homework.Bye.

Charlotte:Bye.
